Turning D Ranch is a troubled teen ranch for boys located in the rugged mountains of rural Western Montana. This remote ranch setting, far from modern distractions, is the ideal environment for struggling teens to begin a new and positive direction in their lives. Our unique residential program helps young men ages 13 to 18 recognize their full potential and make a lasting positive change.
The program at our troubled teen ranch is based on accountability and responsibility incorporating the fundamentals of a 12-step program for low self-esteem. The program includes fully accredited academics, communication courses, one-on-one counseling, and mentorship.
Turning D Ranch is a leader in this industry. Our principal owners each have over 10 years of hands-on experience and have been involved in defining the state regulatory process since Montana began regulation. We have been sitting members on the board of Private Alternative Adolescent Residential Programs (PAARP) which is the board that regulates programs in Montana. We continue to be involved by attending board meetings and have direct input on current and upcoming policies and procedures.
Our staff
At Turning D Ranch, we feel our greatest asset is our diverse and highly qualified staff. Our staff members include two accredited teachers with over 35 years combined experience in the public school system, a licensed addictions counselor, degreed Psychology: Christian Counseling and Life Coaching Counselor, Certified Nurse, and local volunteer fireman. In addition staff members are E.M.T’s (emergency medical technicians) certified, emergency first-aid trained and non-violent crisis prevention certified. Each troubled youth gets assigned a one-on-one mentor to work a step by step process involving instilling principles of living responsibly. Daily support staff are always available to listen to and encourage Residents to turn their lives around.

It is our goal to make the world a better place by reaching out to struggling youths and their families and making them whole again.
In addition to our amazing staff, Turning D Ranch for boys we augment our program with outside professionals in Horse riding lessons providing an environment in which boys can experience various riding disciplines. Summer programs include professionally lead ropes courses, river kayaking, camp outs, hikes, and dirt biking and impromptu swimming in the river. Winter programs are run with a local “outward bound” type of group to develop teamwork in survival techniques, camping out, staying warm, fire building, outdoor cooking, snow shoeing, and navigation techniques. Turning D Ranch is always seeking opportunities to stimulate the mind and body of young men to stretch themselves in new and exciting positive ways.
